Its very easy to forget packing little things and more than often these little things are the ones that matter and you might just end up buying them again! And buying them on-board the cruise can be a bit expensive. So here is a list of “little” things I made up before our cruise trip!

Swimmers & Sun Protection stuff

Make sure you pack heaps of sun screen, hats, sun glasses, swim wear. Girls, atleast a couple of bikinis Trust me, no number is more when it comes to bikini fashion!

Clothing

Jumper
This can vary depending upon the season in which you are cruising. Apart from your usual seasonal clothing, do remember that you will be in the middle of the ocean and it can get pretty cold in the nights if you are lying on the deck star gazing or just loittering around! Ofcourse a couple of drinks can heat you up or a good jumper or a jacket is a must to carry!

Themed nights & Party wear
Almost all cruises have themed nights or a specific party nights. Please check with your cruise company to find out about these events before hand so that you can pack stuff and clothes accordingly. For example a cocktail night will require the girls to wear evening dresses and gowns and formals for the boys. A country music night might need you to wear the classic hat! So it is always good to know abt these early on!

Gymwear, swim wear, casual clothing
Dont forget to pack some casual comfortable clothes, your swim wear and yes if you are a gym junkie, carry gym clothes as there will be gym on board for almost all big cruises.

Fashion accessories

Bathrobe and slippers
Depending upon the type of cabin you are staying in, you get these either complimentary or you will have to pay for them. Check with your cruise company to see if it is complimentary or not. If not complimentary, I usually like to carry my own ones just so I dont double up on them when I am back home. Storage is always an issue, so I dont like duping and de-duping

Medication

If you need to prescription drugs, glasses etc. dont foget to pack them! In my opinion these should be the first to go into your bag! And carry your prescription with you as a just in case! Dont forget sea sickness pills or bands.

Fashion Accessories

Shoes
Remember to pack shoes and sandals that go well with the clothing you are carrying. You might need to carry heels and formal shoes for cocktail night kinda events. Dont forget to carry some slippers or sandals in which you can roam round the ship comfortably!

Hiking shoes, sandals and heels

If you are doing offshore tours and there is going to be a lot of walking or hiking then make sure that you carry appropriate shoe for that!

Bags
I am used to carrying big handbags while travelling just cause of the stuff they can accommodate. But on-board the cruise I couldnt carry my huge handbag to all events and dance classes etc, it was just too big. I needed a little pouch to carry my room swipe card, my credit card and a couple of dollars! I ended buying a small Billabong bag onboard!

If you are doing offshore tours as well, its probably a good idea to carry a day bag with you to carry your stuff in it easily.

Makeup & accessories
Yeap, make sure you take your makeup stuff, jewellery that goes with your dresses etc.

Favourite time pass

There can be an odd couple of hours where you might not find anything interesting to do on-board the cruise. So I strongly suggest to carry a book or an ipod or your tablet device to keep yourself entertained with the books or the music or the movies you love.

Photography equipment

Most important of all dont forget your photography equipment. Take your camera and capture every single awesome moment of your trip And if possible take a binoculars with you. There is 99% chance that there will be a pod of dolphins that will swim past your ship and you wouldnt want to miss the gorgeous ones!

Remember that if you forget anything, most of the time you can buy it on-board, unless it is something rare or odd. So dont panic and enjoy your cruise!
